FedEx’s 2026–2027 peak fees stack per-package surcharges on a separate volume-based residential charge, billed two weeks after the shipment week used to calculate it.

What changes during FedEx’s peak window?

FedEx’s demand-surcharge season runs September 28, 2026, to January 17, 2027. Peak rates apply November 23–December 27: Ground Economy rises from $2.55 to $4.05 per package while Ground Residential moves from $0.50 to $0.80. FedEx’s schedule lists peak additional handling at $11.85 and oversize at $117.25.

How does the two-week calculation lag work?

The volume-based Demand Residential Delivery Charge applies to enterprise shippers exceeding 20,000 combined residential and Ground Economy packages weekly. FedEx compares volume to the June 1–28 average; charges start above 105%, from $1.70–$8.00 per ground package and $3.05–$9.35 on express, billed two weeks later. Holiday weeks get a 5/4 volume adjustment that can raise the tier, and contracted discounts on the standard residential charge do not apply. See ebb Logistics.

  • Model calculation weeks, not application weeks.

  • Recheck Ground Economy savings against its $4.05 peak fee; UPS Ground Saver peaks at $0.75.

  • Repack to avoid peak additional-handling charges.

  • Confirm discounts in writing; audit invoices weekly.

  • Updated Delivery Area Surcharge ZIP lists take effect January 4, 2027.

How should I-95 brands prepare?

Position holiday inventory near customers before the peak window. From the Glen Burnie warehouse and Baltimore corridor, a 3PL Maryland partner supports Mid-Atlantic fulfillment across Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and New England. Document carrier equipment readiness using CVSA Brake Safety Week (August 23–29, 2026) as the benchmark.

What should shippers do next?

This is a fee-schedule change, not a government regulation; remedies are contractual and operational.
