FMCSA has suspended enforcement of biennial updates and related USDOT number deactivations while it stabilizes the Motus registration system. What changed in FMCSA registration and broker oversight?

FMCSA’s September 10 notice protects registrants whose updates were due on or after June 1, 2026. The agency will provide additional time and advance notice before enforcement resumes. Carriers should still verify records through Motus and document any registration issues.

The broker transparency proposal has reached White House review, according to industry reporting. If finalized, it could require clearer disclosure of broker-carrier transaction information, including compensation and financial records. It remains a proposal: not an immediate compliance change.
