Amazon’s holiday fulfillment peak-fee window starts today, October 15, and runs through January 14, 2027. For sellers, the cost shift arrives alongside record LTL tonnage at Estes and new options for shipping bulky orders.

What changes for Amazon fulfillment costs?

Amazon’s peak fees average about $0.32 more per unit than standard rates, and the separate 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applies on top. The exact fee depends on the fulfillment program, item size, weight and service speed; check Amazon’s 2026 MCF rate card and peak-fee announcement.

  • Recalculate contribution margin by SKU and channel.

  • Plan inbound shipments at least three weeks ahead of relevant deadlines.

  • Confirm unit counts and product IDs to reduce receiving delays and manual-processing fees.

Amazon says its facilities prioritize customer orders over inbound receiving during November and December. Strong inventory management helps brands avoid preventable bottlenecks when fulfillment capacity is under pressure.

What do rising LTL volumes and new labels signal?

Estes posted back-to-back record tonnage weeks, with volume up 15% year over year. CEO Webb Estes linked the increase partly to tighter truckload capacity shifting shorter-haul freight into LTL, not necessarily a broad-based demand surge, according to NTG’s weekly freight trends.

Amazon is also adding LTL labels through Buy Shipping for third-party sellers shipping bulky items, with negotiated rates and late-delivery protection. Regional pricing for heavy and bulky items is planned for early 2027, according to Supply Chain Dive.

What should Mid-Atlantic sellers do now?

For brands moving goods through Maryland and the I-95 corridor, review parcel and LTL costs together before peak volume accelerates. A 3PL Maryland partner can help coordinate Mid-Atlantic fulfillment across channels, but accurate SKU-level stock and shipment visibility remain essential.
